Welsh farm vending machines cause complaints

A farm shop in Wales which installed milkshake vending machines received complaints regarding noise and antisocial behavior. Neighbours complained to the council, with the council suggesting the farm shop may have needed planning permission to operate the machines.
The council argued that the machines disrupt the rural character of the area. The farm shop defended the machines, saying they were necessary for diversification and income. In the end, the council limited the vending machines’ hours of operation.
As the use of vending machines continues to becomes more widespread, both in terms of products and location, businesses will have to be increasingly aware of their potential impact on local areas.
